MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - A quick "fix" to spicing up ice cream is adding your favorite toppings. Any true ice cream lover knows that the possibilities are endless.
It all depends on the specific taste and craving of the person concocting the dessert. Some would say that chocolate, whether choco chips, choco shavings or chocolate syrup, is the magic ingredient. Others would state that classic toppings, such as nuts and marshmallows are enough to make an ice cream filled bowl delectable.
However, there's still a few more ice cream ideas that are sure to soothe anyone's ice cream appetite, let's list them down:
Why not try a hot, and at the same time, cold serving of fried ice cream? No need to go to the restaurant for this delectable treat, anyone can create fried ice cream using a pint of ice cream, egg and cornflakes or finely crushed cookies. A gentle note to the would-be-cook, the ice cream needs to be super frozen for easy handling.
How about an ice cream float? Just grab a bottle of your favorite soda, though rootbeer is a classic choice, and top with a creamy scoop of vanilla ice cream. Try mixing and matching soda and ice cream flavors to find the perfect blend. Switch the soda with some berries to make fruity ice cream floats.
Have you ever had banana bread made of ice cream? Sounds unbelievable, but it works and it's delicious! Just mix a pint of ice cream with one and a half cups of self-rising flour until it forms a batter. In case you don't have self-rising flour, substitute it with all-purpose flour, a tablespoon of baking powder and one and a half teaspoons of salt. Fold in chopped bananas, transfer to a greased loaf pan and bake in a 350-degree-F oven until golden brown or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
These are just a few of the favorite and interesting different ways to enjoy ice cream. There are other great recipes and combinations out there. It's up to you to invent and enjoy your very own ice cream creation!
